This Round Table, hosted by the SIG: Creating and Maintaining Pediatric Acute Pain Services, we learn from three experts who will share their clinical experience, research, and protocols for the use of lidocaine infusions for pain at their respective institutions. The goal of this discussion is to review the evidence for the perioperative risks and benefits of lidocaine infusions in pediatric pains, share approaches for the initiation and maintenance of lidocaine infusions in an inpatient setting, and broadly detail indications its use in both acute and chronic pain.

This Round Table, hosted by the SIG: Creating and Maintaining Pediatric Acute Pain Services, is led by a multi-disciplinary panel of experts on neonatal epidurals. Panelists discuss the collaborations needed between pediatric anesthesiologists, surgeons, and neonatologists to establish epidural pathways for NICU patients, challenges and tricks for neuraxial block placement in neonates, and management of neonatal catheters in the NICU.
